…on the way to the bike shop, leaving the BeOne up for a service prior to Lap The Lough this Sunday.
Well, perhaps “funny” is the wrong word. The drivetrain jammed and threw the rear mech up into the wheel, wrecking the mech the dropout, the chain and (somehow) bending a chainring. I’m looking at a £100+ repair bill.
On the bright side, I didn’t crash off, the wheel seems all right and the dropout did it’s job (sacrificing itself to protect the frame) and I’ll have the bike back and in better condition than before for Sunday.
Small mercies, eh?

I’ll look out for you on Sunday.A few of us from work (CRC) will be taking part.If you pass a knackered looking cyclist on a Kona singlespeed that will be me.Should be a blast. Is there a McDonalds near Maghery,I might need an incentive.
The boys at CRC sorted me out with a new chainset, bottom bracket and the fancy spanner to sort it all out, so I now have an all new, bright and shiny 105 drivetrain for Sunday. It had better not rain!
How did you get on?Did you stand in the long queue for lunch?I heard that a woman got clipped by a car near Oxford Island.
