The Belfast Cycle City campaign are holding another conference this year, much like 2010′s very successful Visions for the Future event.
Belfast Cycle City Conference: Creating a Cycling Culture takes place on 29th June at 5:45pm in the Empire Music Hall on Botanic Avenue, Belfast. Guest speakers from local government and Dublin will give talks about what Dublin is doing to create a cycling culture, and future plans for cycling in Belfast.
Those talks on future plans for Belfast will be interesting, since government slashed the Belfast cycling budget by 98% to a mere £8,000 this year. Perhaps they will be very short talks. Perhaps I’m just being unfairly cynical (it’s been known to happen).
Last year’s event was well attended, with over 200 cyclists crammed in to the Black Box. Entrance is free, and refreshments are provided.
See you there.

I wonder what percentage of their annual budget will be spent on this event? Booking the Empire, refreshments, publicity – it’s bound to come to 10% of their total!
Ah but it’s FoE / Cycle City that’s organising this event, not Belfast City Council. The council will just have to cover the attending officials’ expenses I expect – probably closer to 75% of the budget.
Ooo, bit of politics on Rain Miles, whatever next?
