Bike Week 2009 is almost upon us.
Bike Week is the biggest nationwide cycling event in the UK. A national celebration of cycling, Bike Week helps you get more out of life – by getting on your bike and exploring your local community.
For 2009, Bike Week focuses on encouraging families to taking up cycling as a regular activity in their local community. Bike Week is the time to “live local and get cycling.”
Bike Week is free to enter and open to everyone – you can either take part in an event or organise one yourself, you don’t have to be an experienced cyclist either, anyone can set up a Bike Week event.
Bike Week is UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event and this year is focusing on encouraging families to “swap 4 wheels for 2″, get out and about and explore their local area by bike.
Across Northern Ireland, towns, villages and cities will host free cycling events supporting the Bike Week theme of “get more out of life: live local, get cycling”.There are events for all abilities in Ballymoney, Foyle, Dungannon, Antrim and of course the Bangor Coastal Challenge on the 21st of June.
For more events or to find one near you, check out the events section on CycleNI or visit the main BikeWeek web site and enter your postcode.
