craigavon cycle trail – team lard is going!

I’ve posted before about the Marie Curie Craigavon Cycle Trail, an organised 10Km or 50Km cycle around the Craigavon area in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

On Saturday 9th May 2009 – just a week from now – I and a few other Team Lard members will be taking part in this ride. The forms have been filled in and submitted. The map packs have arrived. The tea and biscuits have been organised. In other words: we’re going!

Marie Curie Craigavon Cycle Trail

This will be the first time I’ve gone in for an organised cycling event and I’m very much looking forward to it!

I’ll allow myself to believe that completing the course shouldn’t prove too troublesome as it’s “only” 30, relatively flat miles and most of my recent weekend rides have been at least this distance on much hillier terrain. But it will still be interesting to see how these things are run on the day and good experience of riding in numbers for the larger and more challenging Bangor Coastal Challenge and Lap The Lough events I’m attempting later in the year. We’ll also be raising a bit of money for a worthwhile cause, of course.

We have a promise of post-ride tea and biscuits at one of the Lard’s parents’ house in the area, so I think we’ll survive the day alright.

There’s still time to enter The Craigavon Cycle Trail yourself. More information and downloadable entry forms are available from the Marie Curie Cancer Care website.

See you there!
