cycling makes you sexy

Cycling makes you sexy, FACT. Or at least it does to British women, if you believe a survey carried out by the UK Cycle Show of women attending the show.

When rating “typical male sporting pursuits” in terms of attractiveness of prospective partners, the survey found that British women prefer cyclists to football, rugby, fishing and golf fans at least.

How could you not be attracted to this?

How could you not be attracted to this?

Cycling was the first choice pastime with 36% of the votes, ahead of football (soccer) on 17% and rugby on 14%. However, the Lycra outfits were almost the least favourite of all sporting attire (all except fishing, as it turns out) with only 7% of respondents preferring the skin-tight spiderman look to that of other sports. Cyclists were also frequently described in positive terms such as as “kind”, “considerate” and “intelligent”, whereas football fans were typically referred to more negatively as “aggressive”, “selfish” and “proud”. Going for a bike ride rated highly as an enjoyable activity for a date.

Of course, there’s a slim chance that the survey was biased, since the audience was restricted to women who were already attending a bike show and it was carried out by the promoters of that same show.

I knew the truth of the matter in any case, but it’s still good to have hard data.
