facilities for cycle commuters

by John Girvin | tagged: , | permalink

In my present employment, we have 3 showers available for maybe 10 cyclists out of 60 employees. Two are combined with toilets and one is shared with the other occupants of the building. There is a ground floor car park accessible through the (entry coded) main building lobby in which we’ve installed wall brackets for locking bikes to. The company also runs a Cycle To Work scheme enabling staff to purchase bikes and save on income tax and VAT.

These facilities seem to be amongst the best I’ve heard of and certainly more than adequate for the size of company.

I do have a couple of minor grumbles though:

  • the Cycle To Work scheme can only buy bikes through Halfords
  • I’d like lockers in in the shower rooms, but there’s no space
  • There are no real clothes drying facilities
  • The builders keep knocking the showers off

I said they were minor!

How are the facilities for cycle commuters where you work?
