getting the setup right

by John Girvin | tagged: , , | permalink

I’d been experiencing some niggly pain while commuting to and from work over the past one or two months, and I was concerned that perhaps my commuting bike wasn’t set up properly for me in terms of saddle height, riding position and so on. I feel that the bike is a touch too short for me along the top tube and I was wondering if I had my saddle in an odd position to compensate, leading to a strange riding stance that was putting unusual or uneven strain on my body.

Using the following articles for reference, I determined my optimal seat height and riding position and adjusted my commuting bike accordingly.

I’ve been for a couple of commutes with the new geometry. It feels unusual, I can only guess  it’s just because I’m not used to it yet. But I think it’s working out to be a lot more comfortable and the  pain I had been experiencing seems to be fading away.

It pays to get your setup right.
