The UK (and presumably Northern Ireland is included in that) is “odds on for a barbecue summer”, say the BBC, quoting Met Office forecasters. Apparently we can expect warmer than average temperatures, exceeding 30C at times, and rainfall “near or below average” for the three months of summer.
Met Office chief meteorologist, Ewen McCallum, said a repeat of the wet summers of 2007 and 2008 is unlikely.
“After two disappointingly wet summers the signs are much more promising this year. We can expect times when temperatures will be above 30C, something we hardly saw at all last year.”
Rain miles may well count double, but I’m all for some sun miles too so I hope the forecast is accurate. There’s little to beat heading out on a bike along some country roads or a quiet cycle track on a fine summer’s day. I recommend you try it, if you haven’t already.
Belfast had torrential rain today, but the long range forecast is for sun, and lots of it. So why not get your bike out of its retirement home in the garage and get it (and yourself) prepared for a fine summer of riding? It won’t take much effort or expense and the physical and mental health benefits are well proven.
You might even enjoy it!

Its really REALLY not happening, Might be hot and dry by winter at this rate.
