June 100 is nothing if not motivational. I had a bit of time to kill this afternoon, and after checking the challenge standings I saw that a quick 15 mile ride would move me well up the table. It was a sunny day, I had time on my hands; what to do?
20 miles, that’s what.
I took my new favourite leisure loop out along the Old Carrick Road to the Beltoy Road (which exits opposite scenic Kilroot Power Station), then back to base along the Shore Road. The sun was out, the pace was easy, the late afternoon traffic was light and there was a nice breeze to keep things cool.
20.01 miles added to my June 100 tally, which moved me briefly up to fifth overall I think. Average speed was a surprisingly high 16.0mph, given the effort I felt I was putting in.
Not a bad way to kill some time on a sunny afternoon.
