Good news, everyone. Marie Curie Cancer Care‘s always excellent Craigavon Cycle Challenge is coming back for 2011, and this time it’s longer.

The charity has recently relaunched their website and there is a backlog of content to be uploaded, so for now the only information available on 2011′s event is on Facebook here.

Kicking off at 9am on Saturday 21st May 2011 from the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, this year’s event has the usual 50Km route available but also sees the addition of a longer, more challenging 80Km route. There’s no mention of the 10Km option that was available in previous years. Entry costs £10, with a minimum sponsorship requirement of £20.

The Craigavon Cycle Challenge has always been a well run, fun day out on the bike. I’m happy to see it return for another year and I’m looking forward to that (hopefully) sunny Saturday in May!

Ooooh! An 80k! I’ve never done an 80k before. Now that’s an interesting proposition…

You finished last year’s 50Km in fine form, I reckon you’ve got the legs for an 80Km all right!

Have you considered the Down 100 for later in the year? 100 miles around Strangford lough, numerous water stops and a lunch stop included.Organised by Medical Action Research.

Is it this one? That’s on 15th May and there’s no way I’d be ready for a century ride by then!

It’s the same one but it was around August/September if I remember right. It is cutting it a bit fine for training,a pity.It was busy last year and apart from a couple of large climbs it was fairly flat and the views stunning.Very well organised with energy drinks, bananas and biscuits supplied.Never saw Mr Kelly.

I suffer from Fibromyalgia and have cycled over 5000 miles in the last 22 month. I was delighted to take part in the Craigavon Cycle this tear (2011) it was a cols, wet and windy day but I was so please to complete the 50k course and raise £70 for Marie Curie. Several more experenced cyclist encouraged me from begining to end and for that I thank them most sincerely. I’m already looking forward to the South Down Cycle Ride later in the year, hopefully the weather will be warm, sunny and dry. Keep those legs pumping for Marie Curie, wonderful people doing wonderful work a for all oue cummunity.
